Golden-winged Warbler
Деталі спостереження
This previously reported rare eastern warbler was my main target bird for the trip. We had, along with many other birders, searched the area below the Whitehouse Picnic Area, where it had previously been seen, for most of the morning without any luck. In the late morning, however, we spotted a herd of birders rushing down the trail towards Proctor Road - someone had spotted the Golden-winged Warbler. Just below the Proctor Road parking area, we spotted a congregation of people with binoculars and scopes looking up in a tall Arizona Sycamore Trees. They had the Golden-winged Warbler! Both my wife and I had great looks at this beautiful eastern warbler as it foraged chickadee-like among the outer branches near the top of the tall Sycamore. Often times it would even hang upside down, probing and poking around, looking for food. I tried to get a few pictures of the little bird, but it was too active and too far away … I did get some great pictures of the branches it had been on after it flew away as I pressed the shutter. It settled in along the stream and foraged among the leaves and branches on the ground. I was able to get a few more pictures, including one great one that caught the bird in a good pose. this was a life bird for me, and for just about everyone else there too.
