Деталі спостереження
First reported by by Kelly Kirkpatrick. I saw it in the comfrey patch at the back of the gardens. While I was there, Gwen Baluss was banding Rufous Hummingbirds. This hummingbird happened to be captured. Gwen noted that it wasn't a typical immature male Anna's Hummingbird and suggested it could be a hybrid hummingbird, possibly Costa's. For example, the gorget on one side is elongated and has a purple cast. She took some measurements but didn't band the bird. 7/18/22 - Gwen reviewed photos and her measurements taken in hand. We both observed that the undertail coverts were marked, which is characteristic of immature ANHU. I asked about the white line from eye to chest. Gwen says that although it is a Costa trait, many immature ANHU have it too. Measurements taken in hand are within the norms for immature ANHU. So on balance it is probably an immature male ANHU.
