Деталі спостереження
Present in same area as yesterday. Three different fresh juveniles present. A fourth bird came in briefly, was not seen well in dense trees but judging from the excited food-begging calls from the young birds and how they quickly converged on that individual, it must have been a parent, perhaps making a food delivery. Also heard a "cak-cak-cak" call once, probably from an adult. The juveniles mostly sat in various treetops giving occasional calls, but at least one spent some time on the ground in dense cover. One bird (pictured) likely hasn't finished growing its tail feathers yet. The nest was not seen despite some searching but must be nearby, since COHA juveniles spend several weeks together in the vicinity of the nest after fledging. I believe this is the sixth breeding record for this species in Nova Scotia, and the first for Yarmouth county.
