Observed resting on a pile of reeds just a few feet away from the boardwalk. The water level in the marsh was much higher than usual due to heavy rains. When I walked past, the bird showed his displeasure by puffing out his feathers in a very impressive threat display. It stuck around for at least another hour but was not seen later in the day. On Oct. 5, I may have caught a brief glimpse of the same bird as it flew over the boardwalk.
