Tsip" call recorded 11:02 a.m. BirdNet probability 1.0 fo PSFL and .03 for COFL. See XC297476. to see "V" sonogram character
Деталі спостереження
For the bird seen and with photo and audio recording around 9:50 a.m. with Derek Muschalek: Small flycatcher; dark olive-green on back; two whitish wingbars; yellow/lighter undersides; large, broad-based bill with orange/yellow lower mandible; raised, “spiky” crown; short, narrow tail with notched end. Gave single note “Tsip” call (media added) near us many times before D. Muschalek found the bird overhead. Bird flew to a lower perch near us at the river side where I got the poor photos under overcast skies. Thank you, D. Muschalek. I also heard and sometimes was able to record the bird before and after 9:50 a.m. Except for a heard “Chu-wee” across the river, near the pipes going into the river, my heard and one-time seen bird were all from the trail by the river, between the pipes and the falls upriver. I never got a decent “Chu-wee” recorded, but heard it and the “Tsip” call, per my field audio notes at: 0905, 0909, 0913 (heard two birds), 0915, 0917, 0921, 0950 (with D.Muschalek), 1050, 1055, 1058, 1102, and 1108. I have added recordings from some of those times. I heard the two-note, “Chu-wee” call “pronounced” slightly differently, but ever like a COFL’s “pee-IST” (per iBird Pro). The only difference in the “Chu-wee” calls was a slightly faster version, and less like a distinctively, 2-note call. Phonetically, I would put the accent on the second, higher pitched “syllable.” When comparing what I heard in the field with my listening to iBird recordings in the field, of both flycatchers two note call impresses me as too high pitched for COFL. I have attached very poor, cropped, dark photos and some “lightened” versions of those dark photos to help see some field marks. I ran the single note recordings through BirdNet and noted the probability results for PSFL and COFL with each recording. See xeno-canto XC297476, 1-Mar-2015. to see "V" sonogram character, in the 7K to 7.5K range, seen in my recordings.
