First bird is probably a second-summer (3cy); the dark eye perhaps atypical? Or, at least, my gut reaction is that it seems to clash a bit with the "overall look" = plenty of nice gray coverts and scapulars, whitish head, etc. Messy bill, pale pinkish legs with very little yellowish tone, fairly extensive (messily-patterned) dark on tail. Useful: http://www.gull-research.org/lbbg/3cyaug.html The second bird (just dropped in at dusk) has mostly gray wing and mantle (some old coverts peeking through), tiny white tips on a couple primaries, a pale eye, fairly yellowish legs, an almost entirely white tail, and more streaking on head and neck than the other bird. Is this also a second-summer, just more advanced than the other bird, or maybe a third-summer? Anyway, both different from the rather adult-like bird from a couple days ago (which I think might have been a third summer) and different from two first-summer birds on the 11th = at least 5 LBBG here in the past week or so. Trying to figure out aging stuff so might update these notes. Help/corrections welcome!
