A pair of Double-banded Sandgrouse walking and feeding. The monogamous Double-banded Sandgrouse (Pterocles bicinctus) are often seen in pairs or small groups. Males have an obvious black and white band on the forehead and a narrow black and white chest band. The female is more cryptically coloured, and both sexes have a yellow ring of bare skin surrounding the eye. Double-banded Sandgrouse are found in savanna woodland, particularly Mopane, and mainly eat seeds. These birds were in the edge of the H1-7 road, 3 km south of Boyela Waterhole in Kruger. National Park. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: July 31, 2019.
