This photo shows the striated pattern of the back.
Деталі спостереження
During the rice threshing today, a bird which had probably been flushed from the field prior to my arrival, reflushed from just beside the road as I walked along. It twittered as it flushed like a Woodcock in Sibley's app. It's striated back and long bill and body shape were similar to a Wilson's Snipe. However, it was very rufous on its breast. The head and facial markings seem to be Woodcock. The face is plainer than Snipe, and it seems to have the characteristic bars on the back of its head. It has a short rounded tail. After study, I now believe it is a Woodcock based on the orange breast coloration and facial and head markings, long straight bill and twitter. The location was along the road on the northeast corner of the Nelson Farm rice field, not too far from the area known as Barn Owl Woods further east. Adding the blurry photos for id purposes.
