Regionally Rare: An adult looking shrike (though my photos show some lighter toned/sun bleached primaries...so perhaps a subadult?) with all black bill, heavy mask, gray back, black wings , light gray underparts. Perched on barbed wire, fence posts a nearby truck. Caught grasshopper and impaled it on the barbed wire and proceeded to eat it from the barb. It appeared to catch at least one other smaller food item which it quickly consumed. Interacted with the nearby mockingbird, chasing it out of sight and then returned to perch and mocker returned a few minutes later and perched near the shrike. The shrike also passed over a few killdeer on the grass , which were extremely agitated by the shrike's presence. There one brief, and harmless, interaction with a Chipping Sparrow which perch on the fence near (below) the shrike. Essentially this bird was in view for all but a few minutes while I was present, showing extremely nice ...photographed Originally found be Peter Gararin earlier in the day
