Деталі спостереження
This Golden-Plover was seen along the entrance road to the Alviso EEC, just before the railroad crossing. I am considering whether this could be an American Golden-Plover, but waiting to see better photos from Garth and Garret who also were in the area. The bird showed a nearly complete lack of gold feathers, but its breast was very pale buffy with the faintest hint of a blurry bib, recalling Pectoral. The lower back and rump did show some gold spots. The axillaries were pale and the tail was dark, and the bill was quite dainty, so I'm confident it was not a juvenile Black-bellied. The reason I didn't immediately consider it a Pacific Golden-Plover was what appeared to be very long primaries which extended well beyond the tertials and tail. The crown was quite dark, accentuating the supercilium and whitish face. The auriculars were dark, the legs were pale, but it was hard to judge whether gray or some other pale color. I look forward to hearing what others have to say about this bird.
