NOTES: (Range Status: Accidental. General Climate: Cyclic wet-dry. Cover Density: Medium.) Primary recording is of an Eastern Wood Pewee with a Northern Parula Warbler also in background. First part of tape includes Great Horned Owl and Pewee. The Western Wood Pewee was first state record for this species in Oregon [I assume he means Eastern Wood-Pewee here - CAM]. [These calls do indeed appear to represent those of Contopus virens. There are examples of "Song Form 2" (0:08, 0:15), the "pweee" call typically given in migration (0:24, 0:41, 0:55, 1:14, 1:40, 2:24, 2:30 - the last a little odd; although this call is not described in BNA, it is illustrated in Figure 4), and "chip!" calls (most preceding the "pweee" calls; 0:55, 1:13, 1:59). Quality added (3 - talking throughout) - CAM - 5 January 2005].
