Gözlem detayları
Dark hood, mantle, coverts and some gray/dark in flanks with lack of buffy coloration anywhere on bird. Clearly not J.h. oreganus Group. First observed bird as it was forging on the ground in the fenced in outside seating area of brewery. I was immediately struck by the overall dark, slaty coloration of the bird. I noticed a prominent dark hood contrasted with gray back, coverts, and flanks. Initial impressions support cismontanus ssp. As I went to the car to get the camera, I returned to see that the bird had flushed. I later relocated the bird as it sat on a branch in the oaks to the west of the brewery. I was never able to get decent photos of the bird's hood/mantle/back again and subsequent photos revealed uniform slaty coloration and lack of obvious dark hood. Photos support leaning towards hyemalis/carolinensis ssp. Unable to determine so will leave as Slate-colored/cismontanus ssp.
