The Northern Flickers and wind are difficult, but the distinct throaty "thurc" call is audible several times. These notes are visible in the 2 kHz range on the sonogram. Age (adult) based on the description from those who saw this bird shortly before I arrived and made this recording (C. Rustay and N. Hetrick).
Gözlem detayları
Seen and identified by Nancy Hetrick and Christopher Rustay who called me over after it had made its brief appearance and hidden itself in the dense foliage. By the time I arrived it could be heard giving a distinctive throaty "thruc" call, quite unlike the "chup" call I am used to hearing from American Robins. After about half and hour of searching we were unable to relocate the bird, nor were we able to relocate it on our hike out. Encountered at the pool of water in the stream crossing immediately before (west) of the Old Cistern.
