Bird was flapping its wings, not sure if this was to test flightworthiness or if something else. Feathers are present in right wing, but something appears to be wrong. Possible injury, possible deformity?

Still here, still evidently unable to fly. The bird spent a couple of minutes flapping its wings. My best guess is that it was trying to test the right wing for flightworthiness. The right wing would flap, but there were irregularities evident in the unfolded wing. A very mild winter so far has allowed the bird to survive. When things ice up, the picture may become bleak for this bird. Not clear if the injury/deformity is recoverable.
