Gözlem detayları
It was sitting at the edge of our birdbath, about 5-6 feet away , from our kitchen window, with 3-American Goldfinch on the rim of the bowl, at 10:33am. Suddenly, I realized there was a new, never-seen-before bird, here! This is a First of Year, First of Lifetime-Bird! I instantly grabbed my hubby's camera on the counter & began spraying, unfortunately, most came out awefully blurry. (Later, found two loose screws on back of his long lens, but, in the excitement, I still missed my target, too!) This little bird seemed close to the size of the nearby AMGOs that it was next to in the birdbath, but slightly narrower body-wise, and slightly smaller. As I watched, I noticed that it had a tiny red patch on top of its head, that not many, if any of our birds do, especially such small birds, and with stripes similar to, but lighter and narrower, than a PISI, plus, it had a tiny yellow beak! And, just as it took off, I could easily see that it had a black patch on its face, too! It was so thrilling to see a brand new bird here, and unfortunately, my hubby was out of town! Rats! The poor pics included, hopefully, will document its species! Although, we've been on the lookout for the Red-breasted Nuthatch, the Pine Siskins (that we've seen), the Purple Finches (we've seen), but, we never expected to see a Redpoll! We didn't even see any, when we visited Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park, the year before last!
