NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 2. Bulk reel: 134 Time: ~1:30 to 2:10 PM. Weather: Fair. A group of 8-10 birds (or perhaps more) was foraging by an army ant group. Also with them were several Gymnopithys rufigula. Quality: 1. Level: 0. The "burry" sounds are by P. albifrons, as are also apparently the sharp chips and bill snapping. Cf. Cut 1b) of Gymnonpithys rufigula which is apparently largely or entirely "burry" calls by Pithys. The deeper, longer burry sounds with tendency to slow down at end (heard especially after 4:45) may well be of Gymnopithys rufigula. The more musical, whistled sounds are by G. rufigula. (See also Cut #1 of [that species]. The single "squeak" heard occasionally are of Pithys (fide Ed Willis 23/I/73). Number of individuals=UU8-10;.
