*rare in winter, third county record in january. definitely not one i was expecting to see in the snow today. seen in somewhat unusual/marginal habitat with the only real draw being the open water. add in the -2 deg wind chill and snow and it didn’t seem like an ideal WISN living situation by any means. i stayed w the bird for about half an hour though and they seemed to be dealing just fine and finding plenty of food so maybe this snipe was just built for winter
