Gözlem detayları
Gull slightly larger than Herring. White primaries and mantle paler than Herring gulls it was around. Legs similar in color as Herring. Have terrible digiscoped photos. 9:13 pm 02Jan23 update: While conducting the Christmas Bird Count around Horicon noticed gulls had joined the Geese and Mallards on I-3 just northeast of the Palmatory Street Overlook. Took my 20-60x80 spotting scope and hiked out to the area to get a closer look at the gulls. Scanned the group looking for dark mantle gulls and found none. The second scan through the group I finally noticed a gull with white primaries and slightly lighter mantle, as described above. That gull was about 50 yards out and gave good views through the spotting scope. That gull is shown in photo ML612991987. It has its back to the camera in the photo. I did not notice much difference in the leg color of that gull relative to the Herring Gull. After spending time investigating that gull I rescanned the group and found a second gull with white primaries, paler mantle and slightly larger than the Herring Gull. The second gull is shown in photos ML612991983 and ML612991986. Second gull was also around 50 yards out and was broadside giving good views.
