Gözlem detayları
The Red-headed Woodpecker arrived in a tree near a feeder and promptly went to all the places in a nearby Oak where Hairy Woodpeckers have been storing seeds. Then the Red-headed starting going to and from the feeder, hiding seeds of its own. About 15 minutes later a Blue Jay stopped by and landed on the feeder (it can't get seeds from this feeder), but within 15 seconds the Red-headed dove at the Blue Jay and drove it off. There was a physical squabble with the Red-headed being the clear winner. The Blue Jay left and in two or three minutes the same (presumably the same) Jay returned with five of his kin. They yelled at the Red-headed but didn't go near it. It appeared that the Red-headed didn't even bother looking in their direction. After a few minutes the Jays gave up and started to feed on the ground. During the 25 minutes the Red-headed was here, there was rain, hail, and thunder. The flurry of activity, including the the arrival of the Woodpecker, may have been weather related.
