Preening and defecation, perched adult Steller's Sea-Eagle
Gözlem detayları
The Steller's Sea-Eagle that had been west across the Sheepscot River in Georgetown at Five Islands and Reid State Park from 29 December to 2 January was found in West Boothbay on 6 January and has been in the Boothbay Harbor area since. (The bird apparently was photographed from Basin Point Road, Harpswell, on 3 January in the interim.) Today, we watched the bird perched on the southeast tip of Indiantown Island north of Moffat Cove from 07:20 until it flew off its perch at 09:55. The eagle flew southeast down Townsend Gut out of sight. Later in the morning while we sat in the parking lot at the Maine State Aquarium, we saw the bird fly over that site at 10:35. It headed southeast over the bay and landed on the west side of Spruce Point.
