Gözlem detayları
First county record. There were gulls in the dairy field so I pulled out the scope and this bird was in the very first scope view. Typical immature LBBG with quite a dark mantle contrasting sharply with a nearly white head and body. Very fine, crisp, linear streaking on the head, giving the appearance that it was drawn on by a very sharp pencil. Fine enough that my photos really didn't capture it. Slight dark smudge surrounding the eye. Bill nearly all black with a tough of pick near the base. Aging it was less straightforward. Seems like a slightly delayed 3rd cycle type rather than a 2nd cycle as there were quite a few median and greater coverts that had aquired the adult-like gray and LBBG is such a slow species to mature I wouldn't expect that from a 2 year old. Took over 200 images of which over 200 were utter garbage. AA came out to see it and actually got better shots digiscoping.
