See photo for verification. Also, it was noticed that one of these birds had a band on its legs. Effort was made to contact someone familiar with the band. This lead to an email response from Yasuko Suzuki, Postdoctoral Research Associate at Oregon Cooperative Fish and wildlife Research Unit, Wildlife Oregon State University who said, "I am pretty confident that the bird was banded as a chick at a colony in the Copper River Delta in 2009. Although I cannot read the alphanumeric code on the tall yellow band, I can see three bands on the other leg, dark blue, black, and metal bands (from top to bottom). The top band indicates the year the bird was banded and the middle band is a colony color for Copper River Delta. One of the birds from the cohort received alphanumeric code E700, so the bird could well be this particular individual. We observed E700 at the colony in June 2014, but not in 2015. So we were wondering where the bird went. So this is great to learn the bird is doing well in Homer (assuming he/she is E700)!
