Gözlem detayları
Just N of LA-365 on Cedar Ln. Heard only initially for about 5 min, giving mainly loud "whaa" calls, and a few "keek" calls. Immediately ruled out Fulvous Whistling-Duck, which is the lowest sound-a-like to me. At wetland area east of road I frantically scanned trees, bushes, and posts, but couldn't find it, even though it continued to call. Hit it with playback for about 10 seconds and it came screaming in and landed in a tree directly above me, 30 ft up. Saw all the key features (black and white face pattern, white throat, lemon yellow from chin to belly, rufous tail, rufous wings). Snapped a few quick shots and took a recording, and it flew out of view, but I still heard it calling for another 5 minutes or so before I left. Appears to be 2nd Acadia Parish record, and appears to be the most northerly (latitude) observation of the species to date in Louisiana (per LBRC and eBird).
