Gözlem detayları
Photo’s. First located perched in the same willow/pine swamp area near the northernmost dam. At first look of perched bird I thought I’d found the broad-winged. However, I had real good looks as the bird flew and topside wing windows were obvious. In addition, photo’s show some brownish-red tones to upper wing coverts. Banded tail shows very thin white bands. When the bird flew to the lower lake (near the eagle nest), I heard three clear-toned “keee-rrr” calls coming from the area where the bird landed. It sounded exactly the same tone and quality as red-shouldered hawk — the only questionable part was the last part of the call was slightly ascending, not descending. None of the sounds were high pitched whistles of broad-winged hawk (I likely would have never heard them). I even heard the bird call it’s loud call once when I was back at the main lake.
