A Spotless Crake running and hunting along a lake edge. Spotless Crakes (Zapornia (or Porzana) tabuensis) are an uncommon, blackish crake with a red eye and finely barred undertail coverts. They are widely distributed within Australia, only avoiding the driest desert areas. Spotless Crakes prefer well-vegetated freshwater wetlands with rushes or sedges, and are sometimes spotted running rapidly along the water’s edge, hunting. This bird was hunting in the Rotary Park Lake, in Rockingham, Western Australia. Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: November 17, 2018.
