Continuing, but not at the Twin Creeks maintenance sheds, where there were only a few blackbirds: instead, this bird was about 0.7 miles to the west, at the SMaRT station, where a conveyor belt was shooting out trash into dump trucks, attracting blackbirds, starlings and crows looking for food. This bird's yellow head made it stick out. From the views I got, it appeared identical in plumage to the individual seen around Twin Creeks lately, so I assume it is the same bird. My views weren't great, however, because as the blackbirds perched on the roof of the building and around the edges of the conveyor belt loading bay, netting partially blocked them from view, as my poor photo shows. With odors wafting over from the neighboring water treatment plant to combine with the landfill smell, the constant sound of many trucks at work, and the unappealing stream of garbage spewing out from the conveyor belt, this was hardly the most aesthetically pleasing setting for a life bird, but I'll take what I can get.
