Gözlem detayları
While it was the Pecs that stole the show for the investigations first half, it was the single Knot that gave me the greatest feeling of contentment. I stumbled upon it quite by chance; I was photographing a Golden Plover when, just behind it, I spotted a barrel chested little bird standing just behind it... a Knot! A Knot at close range!! It’s really interesting how it always stayed in a three quarter profile away from me; this is no doubt a clever compromise between keeping an eye on me and showing as much of it’s actually fantastic camouflage as it could! Eventually it calmed right down, and the next time I saw it was as it fed, very unlike any other Wader. It’s beak never broke the sands surface; rather, it almost seemed to bounce off a little each time! But that’s not to say it wasn’t successful; crabs especially were a favourite, and eventually I left it to its meal, unaware of the immense frustration it was soon to cause me...
