Two birds found in "Sparrow Central", which is now what I'm calling it! A large area of mixed grasses, alligator flag, and ground cover, out near the wooden electric poles slightly South of the weir, on the mudscape. I flushed a group of Red-wings from a clump of alligator flag. As I moved on, a larger and browner bird than the Savannah sparrows flew into the clump. I thought it was odd that a female Red-wing would go in alone, especially after noting there were none in the flock that took off. I was surprised by a sparrow that was much different than any expected one! Just another example of trusting your "that bird is different" feeling! I eventually found two birds together. One was very cooperative, photogenic, and allowed approach, as well as responding to pishing. Both were vocal.
