Подробности наблюдения
Noticed a tiny bird purposefully flying in and out of the waves. This drew my attention. It was only 50 yards from the beach at that time. I followed it with my camera and immediately realized it was a storm petrel. It came within 10' of the pier, which was awesome, but the crazy high waves and high tide made it tough to get awesome shots. I have plenty of diagnostic shots. The tail is clearly notched/forked in a few shots. In no shots do the legs extend beyond the tail. A few photos clearly show a faint, but dark median line running through the tail. Carpal bars extend to leading edge of wing ruling out band-rumped (which would have been awesome). Regardless, it's a pretty awesome bird to see 10' from the pier! (did not expect to get one of my pelagic nemesis birds standing on shore at a pier!)
