Подробности наблюдения
Located about a quarter mile (or less) north of the beach access from the restroom at the day use area, right where Chuck Philo told me he'd seen it earlier this morning. It was hanging out with two Snowy Plovers in the dry sand where verbena plants and some other flowering plants were located. The bird had extremely long legs. I'm not an expert on plovers, so have had to rely on Sibley's 2nd edition guide. After comparing my dozens of photos with the illustrations in Sibley, I don't find the primary wing tips extending very far beyond the tail. The spots on the back of this bird appear to be quite large, as noted in Sibley for Pacific Golden Plover. And, the ear spot appears to be more prominent than that shown by Sibley for American Golden Plover. So, I am inclined to think it is a Pacific rather than an American GP.
