A swift flying noisy green Brotogeris parakeet with a long tail - came by me a couple times going backwards and forwards to the point. Luckily one lower pass while going north and came closer overhead enabling some photographs to be taken. Voice was characteristic for Yellow-chevroned Parakeet, based on comparisons with recordings at www.xeno-canto.org, with two different calls heard. First call type sounded similar in distance to a louder more powerful version of "kak-kak-kak" call like a Bullock's/Baltimore Oriole. The second call type heard, maybe a bit higher pitched, a very parakeet "screek-screek" or "kreek-kreek" much like a louder version of a Budgerigar. Viewed from underneath a two tone green Brotogeris parakeet with frosty bright green head and body and underwing coverts, undertail, then with contrasting darker green (green-blue?) flight feathers. Possibly a small paler rear edging to underwing coverts visible. No sign white feathers in wings overhead. Only a narrow view of upperparts as it flew directly away - two-tone green with obvious large pale yellow greater coverts patch only visible from rear. Absence of large bright white trailing wing edge (secondaries and inner primaries) distinguishes this bird from White-winged Parakeet (Brotogeris versicolurus). This is the first Yellow-chevroned Parakeet I have encountered in San Diego County.
