Подробности наблюдения
3 different interesting gulls seen from the north end of the island. #1 (6 photos)- Looks like a Ring-billed Gull at first glance, but seemed more petite with smaller bill and rounder head. Biggest difference is the dark eye and greenish bill and legs. Bird looks to be in almost full adult plumage, but a ring-billed should normally have a bright eye at this age. Mew type gull??? (Common Gull seems a better match than short-billed) #2 (3 photos)- Overall brown gull when viewed from below. Pink feet, brownish pink bill fading to dark brown or black tip. Underside of tail barred getting darker towards the tip. Face is paler than body with darker markings around the dark eye. Thinking Iceland Gull (Thayer's)? #3 (4 photos)- Much paler than gull #2, but still has a brownish wash and lighter barring on the tail and similar facial pattern, but bill is light pink with sharply contrasting black tip. Pink feet. I was able to get a photo of the top side of this gull, and it is quite light. Tail is uniformly pale brown above. Back looks white with a few speckles and wings are mostly pale except for the wrist area and tips appear white, but could be an artifact from the lighting. A Glaucous or pale Thayer's?
