Pair seen together, slowly drifting east. Distant, but decent to good scope views. Nearly in front of cliffwood beach by the time I left. Larger, dark brownish backed, yellow billed birds with white underside, bill held pointed slightly downwards. Not nearly as clean a transition between light and dark as on horned grebe or rt loon. Seen nearby almost all more common potential confusion species (RT and Common Loon, Horned Grebe). Perhaps not the most unexpected, nonetheless my first time seeing them in the county.
