Подробности наблюдения
Continuing bird. Seen from 11:07 AM to 2:00 PM. At first it was feeding on the mudflats, then flew with all the other shorebirds to the little floating wharf right in front of the park where it was still roosting when we left at 2:00 PM (just after middle tide). It first it was not that easy to pick out from all the Western Sandpipers it was feeding with. But it had a different feeding behaviour (less frantic) and was a bit smaller sized with a thinner bill and conspicuous white lines on the back (when feathers where well placed). Upon closer examination with a scope it had rufous edged tertials, as opposed to buffy edged for Western's. When it was roosting with its bill under the wings we could see the split supercilium that was not so obvious otherwise. Wing coverts where mainly black with contrasting white edges. This a new ABA bird for me and for my friend too!
