Подробности наблюдения
Had been hearing an AMRO making a high, CEDW-like "sreel" call for several minutes before I saw this bird. A LAZB was singing during this time period, interestingly enough. The Accipiter flew across the road, in bad lighting, and perched in a Douglas-fir, where I obtained poor-quality photos, before flying on. Chased by a vocal AMKE. Vocalized occasionally; based on the vocalizations (a single call I was able to record, and others I heard in the field that sounded similar in tone) I suspect it is a COHA. I am not conclusive about head size from the photos; the tail appears fairly long. When flying, however, the tail appeared short, suggesting SSHA to me. Size (notably larger than AMKE) also suggests COHA, but I don't think this is conclusive if large female SSHA and small male AMKE.
