Подробности наблюдения
AK report. Fantastic spot by Sam. First seen on an exposed sandbar just west of the reef with about 10 LAGU. Not long after, the tide rose, covering the sandbar, and the group flew just north to the beach, and fed there with some additional LAGU, a few HERG and RBGU. We studied it well in both spots in the scope. Great views. This is a first summer/first alternate bird. Pretty straightforward ID. Smaller than LAGU, hood darker, more defined, higher contrast compared to LAGU. Posture much more “dumpy”, rounded, and chest-heavy, which was accentuated by noticeably shorter legs. Bill short and thin. White eye arcs present, but not extraordinarily wide for the species. Small white mirrors clearly visible on folded primaries, which appeared fresh. I got digiscope photos. Sam and Mary took some with their cameras. This appears to be the same individual that Steve Spector saw at Stratford Point. Full report will be submitted to ARCC.
