Подробности наблюдения
Short-tailed and flat-headed sparrow with a large, conical bill, white eye ring, and unstreaked buffy breast. One was singing a good distance north of the fence when I arrived. After about 7-8 minutes a second bird flew toward the area where it was singing, sending the first bird south, where it briefly perched on the chain-link fence before heading across the street and taking up on a low wire fence. It sang a few times there, then poked around on the ground for a few seconds before heading back to the chain-link fence and then disappearing into some tall grass, not far from where it originally was. Maybe 10 minutes later it reappeared from and visited the same spots in the same order (chain-link fence, wire fence south of Kittyhawk, a brief stop on the ground, back to the chain-link fence and then north into the grass). It was very similar to the behavior observed on June 2, though this time it didn't make any territorial displays; it just kind of hung out on the different perches and sang a few times before moving to the next. I have no idea what any of this means, but I will acknowledge becoming a bit obsessed with these birds here. Other recent checklists from this location with various GRSP observations: S177957572 from May 29, S178708255 from June 1, and S181674055 from June 15.
