Подробности наблюдения
White bellied oystercatcher paired with a Black Oystercatcher. It looked reasonably good for an American oystercatcher, with a fairly wide white wing stripe and nice demarcation between black and white on the breast, but with a few black spots in the plumage. Scoring these birds on the Jehl scale always seems to end up at 29-32, so unsure how useful it is, but because it is the tradition: Uppertail coverts: about equally dark and white (1.5) Tail: Black (outer rectrices with some white to the base) (0.5) Black on chest fairly sharply demarcated from upper breast (3) Belly white (6) Undertail coverts nearly equally black and white (2) Thighs entirely white (4) Width of greater secondary coverts in folded wing: very wide, but madness to associate a measurement to it (3.5) Wing stripe broad and extending into outer secondaries (2) Underwing coverts mainly white (3) Axillars mainly white (3) Approximately 29-30 even with optimistic scoring. Andy came up with 28. I think this is a hybrid just from those black spots
