Подробности наблюдения
(Rare) Photo, recording. Awesome. Probably among recently reported birds by vague location descriptions. This bird was calling from the west edge of the pond right at the Cape Trail's first junction, about here: 33.145414,-79.344124 I waited for a while as it was clearly moving closer through the reeds, eventually came into view first like a tiger hidden in the canes, then as bold as a gallinule out in the open moving among grass islets, then like a barnyard chicken when it climb the bank and walked down the road a ways. Was calling several hours later still on my return. Warm orangy rail, smoothly russet on the throat, boldly black and white striped on the flanks. Calls were a slow series of 'keks' that accerated moderately in the middle, never reaching clapper rail tempo (a few of which I heard in other more brackish locales on this walk, too). Target bird and patience rewarded, not too much blood donated to skeeters thanks to the breeze. Life bird.
