viewed from 60 to 80 yards. Bird was feeding and would preen and stationary for long periods with intermittent short flights and wing stretches revealing white inder wings with blak tail and white rump. Larger than Hudsonian that flew in at 1:30 and could compare at same distance in adjacent flooded field. B-t has thicker bill, stockier overall, and stands a bit taller. Coloration quite different from breeding plumaged Hudsonian. Photos
