Подробности наблюдения
I spotted it flying and at first couldn't tell what kind of falcon it was. Luckily, it landed on a bare Cecropia branch. I grabbed my binoculars and tried to ID it, but the bird was a considerable distance away, harshly backlit, and had its back to me. All I could see was the orange-tinted neck. I then got my camera and walked down the hill, slowly approaching. The falcon was indifferent to me. I stood there observing and photographing it. Suddenly it flew off, but returned a few seconds later to the same perch. It continued on the same spot, looking around, and after a while flew off again, returning with a large butterfly, which it proceeded to eat very quickly. After eating, it preened and called once (I checked the call and it was a bat falcon).
