Подробности наблюдения
***Very rare. Finally connected after several attempts out here in the last month. Smaller, short-tailed sparrows with distinctive orange around the gray auriculars, on the blurry-streaked breast, and on the sides. Gray nape, dark crown lacking median crown stripe as in LeConte’s. Brownish above with faint white braces on the back. High, clear, slightly descending flight calls heard from observed birds, not too dissimilar from SOSP but without the rise at the end. All flushed along the eastern edge of the tall cattails and phrag in the middle by Matt “Edward William Nelson” Bennink. Conservative count, as we likely saw at least four (and probably missed a bunch as well amidst the grass and SWSPs), but only definitively three based on the locations and times of our sightings. Good photos tba. Likely very underdetected in southeast Michigan (and probably annual in this marsh), but very gratifying to confirm the theory!
