Подробности наблюдения
1st state rec. discovered by Todd Eiben shortly before 1000 this morning. Not seen upon arrival, but found in gull raft of ~3500 west of coast guard pier around 1300. Poor but conclusive scope views from pier, much better looks and photos upon relocating to Wendy Park Beach, where the bird was intermittently seen for the rest of the day. This was a medium-small (slightly smaller than Ring-billed) gull with a fairly dark (CAGU/Appledore-ish) mantle, bold tertial skirt, long wings, and a slender, fine-tipped yellow bill. This bird seemed large-billed and block-headed, pointing away from Short-billed Gull. Primary pattern featured large p9-p10 mirrors, extensive black through primary covert tips in p7-p10, and white inner primary tongues in p4-p6. Photos to come.
