Примечания
The duck's tuft can just be seen at the rear of its head - it was repeatedly diving so kept its head feathers pretty compressed while it briefly surfaced between dives.
Подробности наблюдения
A diving duck that was colored/patterned much like the nearby Ring-necked Ducks and Lesser Scaup, but had much whiter flanks and a black back - not a grey or brown back like the other divers. The duck had a blackish head, yellow eyes, blue bill with a black tip, and a long, blackish tuft emanating from its nape and falling towards its back. The bird fed by diving. Seen well and at length from within approx. 130 m. Familiar with this species from seeing it many times over years. Photo attached.
