Подробности наблюдения
Originally entered as the Rocky Mountains subspecies, with these comments: Expected subspecies group here. Heard only, in response to broadcast calls. "Mountain" Northern Pygmy-Owl excluded by calls single, not double, and rather widely spaced. However, in February 2017 Rich Hoyer commented: "I would argue that the rate of toots (about 30/minute) aligns this with the Pacific group of Northern Pygmy-Owl. It would be interesting to see where the break occurs south of here with Rocky Mountain birds that toot at about 60/minute, such as the one in eBird Checklist S29929746. I can't find any recordings from Wyoming or Idaho, but this is like the ones from Alaska and Montana as well, very slightly faster than Oregon birds at 25/minute." Therefore, I have re-entered this at the species level only, pending further study.
