NOTES: "assorted territorial calls + rushes; Also: red-winged blackbird, gadwall, redheads, chorus frogs, green-winged teal, shoveler, killdeer; Nagra 60-301;40" reflector" WWHG [The first part of this recording begins with a decapitated series similar to that in LNS #2804 (0:14-0:19), this followed by what appears to be a series of the Perturbation Calls described in BNA (0:20-0:23). The second part begins with another series like that beginning the first part (0:32-0:39), this followed by a series of "tack-tack" calls alternating with splashing around (0:41-0:53), possibly given by an unreceptive female. I do not hear any calls by this species in the third part. The calls in the fourth and fifth parts all appear to represent Recognition Calls (1:27-2:07, 2:09-2:15), apparently given by a female. The sixth part contains splashing, a good series of harsh notes much like that in LNS #2804 (2:24-2:30), followed by a similar set in the background (2:30-2:33), a series of what I suspect are Perturbation Calls not quite like any that I have heard to date (2:33-2:36), and then a more normal series that appears to represent Perturbation Calls (2:36-2:40). The seventh part begins with Recognition Calls (2:52-2:57), followed by two sets of harsh calls (3:00-3:08, 3:22-3:27), and then more Recognition Calls (3:31-3:36). Calls in the eighth part all appear to represent Recognition Calls (3:40-4:05), those in the ninth part another harsh series (4:18-4:26), and those in the parts 10, 11, and 12 again Recognition Calls (4:27-4:51, 4:52-5:14 (with GOOD examples of Aythya americana in the background), 5:22-5:42 (again with Aythya)). Quality added (2, 1-2 - BEST part at 2:20-2:43) - CAM - 9 March 2005]. Other Behaviors: Advertise.
