Continuing bird. Better view and photos during sun break. Appears to be a juvenile. Just getting dark feathers in black "shield" under red chin. Call matches RNSS. May not be pure RNSS but appears to have mostly characteristics of juvenile RNSS..changing species to RNSS based on input from several sources including: I don't see anything on this bird that suggests it is a hybrid. Generally, I would advocate for erring on the side of caution but there is no reason to suspect this bird is a hybrid. As Steve Shunk commented, westside reports of RNSA all too often turn out to be hybrids, not because it is so difficult to eliminate that possibility, but because folks just don't know what to look for when trying to eliminate the possibility of a hybrid. In my experience, RNSA X RBSA hybrids always show some red on the sides of the head and that red is typically bleeding through the white striping on the face, which absolutely guarantees it is a hybrid. I see no red anywhere on the head of this bird other than where it should be on a 'pure' RNSA, thus I would be entirely comfortable calling it one. Dave Irons
