Подробности наблюдения
Juvenile, found in Pool 14 and remaining mostly in the southeastern portion, although it did fly around the pool and forage along stretches of shoreline. This observation of a rare transient would establish the earliest fall occurrence in the state by two days and will therefore be documented with the MBRC. PMcK notes: "A plump medium sized shorebird about size of Ruddy Turnstone for overall length; noticeably larger than adjacent Semipalmated Plover and much larger than adjacent Least Sandpiper; deep chested shorebird with short neck, short legs and relatively small head; bill black, straight and noticeably thicker at base - tapered with blunt tip and about the length of the head; profile often appearing hunch-backed; underparts a warm peachy cream from throat to vent; breast and flanks with fine streaking- when looking straight on the streaking appears as a faint breast band; broad pale supercilium above eye; legs yellowish green; feathers on upperparts a grayish tan with a narrow black band near the tip and tip edged in white giving back a noticeable scaly appearance; central vane a dark line- this coupled with black band near tips give feathers the look of an anchor; crown, auriculars, and hindneck with fine grayish brown streaking; one oddity is that in this plumage the lore appears rusty; tips of primaries noticeably darker than tertials."
