While fishing w/ a friend, heard a ring billed gull sounding distressed. At first glance it was beingchased by what appeared to be a falcon. Long, very pointed wings. But we soon knew it was not a falcon. I told my friend "I think that is a jaeger". The jaeger was chasing it for a few seconds then veered away and flew right over us and we got an excellent view at it, noticing the long wings with the buffy stripe at the base of the primaries and a longish narrow dark tail. It then landed out in the lake. We could see the white chest bobbing and decided to try to get some pics as we didn't know how common or uncommon it was to see one. We got a couple fuzzy photos with a cell phone but it was choppy and the bird was pretty wary so nothing clear on film. But clearly identifiable as a parasitic jaeger when it was directly overhead. I have included the best pics we could get. PS I couldn't crop any closer.
