CBRC 2016-085, accepted. First Los Angeles County record. Observed foraging on the ground at close range within 10 feet. Longspur (chunky, former-sparrow, with very short legs) with fading dark auriculars with white center. Thin light eye ring. Throat through vent buff with heavy, albeit thin, streaking on chest that ended abruptly on belly but extended to flanks. Back streaked. Wings had two prominent white wing bars. In flight white in outer tail obvious but limited - possibly the 2 outer retrices on each side. Rattle call in flight, but evenly spaced notes.
